1910 Real Estate Advertisement for Home Located at Northwest Corner of
Corlies Avenue and 2nd Street in Pelham
Today's posting to the Historic Pelham Blog reproduces an image of a
real estate advertisement published in 1910 for a home located on the
northwest corner of the intersection between Corlies Avenue and 2nd Street
in the Heights, part of the Village of Pelham. Immediately below is the
image of the advertisement. Below that I have reproduced most of the text
of the advertisement to facilitate full text searches of the content.

"This Magnificent All-Year-Round Suburban Home at Pelham, N.Y.,
For Sale at a Bargain
SITUATED N. W. corner Corlies Ave. and 2nd Street. Pelham
is one of the finest suburbs of New York City; no stores, saloons, etc.
Strictly residential section and every known convenience. Lovely drives,
walks, trees. Fine homes -- no promised improvements to wait for. They are
all there now. 25 minutes from Grand Central Station. Electric Trains now
running every few minutes during business hours. Fine schools, churches. A
delightful summer and winter resort. An all-year-round house. This lovely
property occupies the finest corner in the city -- facing east and south.
Has sixteen large, light, spacious rooms and two bath rooms. Running water
and large clothes lockers in bed chambers. Large reception hall. Center
double-side stairway - very effective. The general plan of the home is
perfect and ideal in every way. The decorations are exquisite and new from
top to bottom. Fine cellar under entire house - very light and airy. Heavy
stone foundation. Excellent laundry room, coal rooms and hot water heat in
basement. Most delightful porch you ever saw. Cool breezes all the time
from the sound. The yard is a grand playground for children and contains
numerous big old oak trees. The entire place is surrounded by a massive
rugged stone wall 7 feet high. Artistic heavy wrought iron gates and
carriage driveway. The house is most fascinating and of finest type of
home architecture, all slate roof. You would not get an opportunity to
purchase unless owner was moving away. The property is free and clear --
no morgages thereon -- title guaranteed by Title Co. 80% of purchase price
may remain on mortgage. This is your opportunity to get a magnificent home
at a bargain. . . . Price for quick buyer, $40,000. . . ."
