The Fire Bell in the Tower of Pelham Manor Village Hall
The bell in Pelham Manor Village Hall tower was designed as a "toller".
Set in a stationary mount, a bell hammer is mounted beneath and can be
operated by a rope from the base of the tower.
The bell is engraved as follows:
"Van Gilder & Kirk
Cincinnati
Buckeye Bell Works
1892
Village of Pelham Manor"
Though today Pelham Manor residents catch their collective breath when
they hear the Village fire horn, for many decades our predecessors cringed
at the tolling of the Village Hall fire bell.
Below is a post card view of the new addition to Village Hall added in
1922. It clearly shows the bell tower and the bell within.
