Today's Historic Pelham blog posting presents a real estate advertisement published in 1909 offering the Bolton Priory in Pelham Manor for rent. The advertisement includes a wonderful photograph of the estate and a fascinating description of the home and grounds.

"PELHAM MANOR
This beautiful country seat of 35 acres overlooking Long Island Sound, is offered for rent. The grounds are attractive with lawn, magnificent shade trees, tennis court, flower and vegetable gardens. The house is stone and contains on first floor, hall, parlor, library, armory, two smaller parlors, ball room, dining room, butler's pantry and excellent kitchen department. Second floor: 9 master's bedrooms, 3 master's bathrooms, 2 maids rooms, sewing room, large closets. Third floor: 5 master's bedrooms, bathroom, 8 servants' bedrooms and bath. Furniture is old original mahogany. Large stone stable: 5 box, 8 standing stalls, room for a dozen carriages, cement floor. Rent and full particulars of John F.
