Second Anniversary of the Commencement of the Historic Pelham Blog
Today is the second anniversary of the unveiling of the Historic Pelham
Blog. Publication of the Blog began on February 8, 2005. Every Monday
through Friday since that date -- without missing a day (including
holidays) - a brief "article" about Pelham history has been posted to this
Blog. A mirrored archive containing copies of each and every such Blog
posting is also available on the Historic Pelham Web site located at
www.historicpelham.com.
The first posting to the Historic Pelham Blog was entitled "Searching
Historic Newspapers Online for Information About Pelham". Indeed,
enough time has passed that a review of that item suggests it is time for
an update of the information it contains!
During the period February 8, 2005 to December 31, 2005, 244 articles on
the history of The Town of Pelham were researched, prepared and posted to
the Historic Pelham Blog. During 2006, 260 additional articles on the
history of The Town of Pelham and surrounding areas were researched,
prepared and posted to The Historic Pelham Blog. So far this year,
including today, 29 more items have been posted to the Blog bringing the
total number of history articles posted on the Blog to 533. A single index
of all the items may be accessed by
clicking here.
The 29 items posted so far this year exemplify the wide range of topics
addressed on the Historic Pelham Blog. What follows is a list of the 28

Much of the content on the Historic Pelham Blog consists of research notes
that I have prepared and converted into Blog postings. There also are
exactly 300 images that, to date, have been included within postings to
the Historic Pelham Blog.
Given the lack of control that I have over my work schedule, I typically
keep a collection of fifteen to twenty draft Blog postings "on file" so
that material can be placed on the Blog quickly when my schedule and other
commitments requires. Indeed, at present I only have eight such items
because I was unable to do much research last weekend.
As the Historic Pelham Blog enters its third year, it has -- for me, at
least -- become a valuable research tool. With the recent addition of "key
word tagging" functionality by Google, I slowly will go back and tag
earlier items to make the archive a more powerful research tool.
